Terms of Service
Effective date: September 21, 2026
Welcome to JupyterDocs. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the JupyterDocs website and app (together, the "Service"), available at jupyterdocs.com. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. What JupyterDocs is
JupyterDocs is an academic resource marketplace where students can upload and download past papers, lecture notes, study guides, and similar academic material. Browsing and searching the catalog is open to everyone. Uploading is open to everyone, including people without an account. Downloading requires a free account; every new account starts with one free download, and uploading earns you more (see Section 4).
2. Accounts
- You may register with an email and password, or sign in with Google.
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
- You must provide accurate information when registering and when uploading as a guest.
- We may suspend or deactivate accounts that violate these Terms or misuse the Service, at our discretion (see Section 8).
3. Uploading content
When you upload a document to JupyterDocs, you confirm that:
- You have the right to share the material — because you created it, it's your own coursework or notes, or you otherwise have permission or a legal basis to distribute it.
- The content doesn't infringe someone else's copyright or other rights.
- The content isn't illegal, harmful, or something you're prohibited from sharing (for example, an exam still under an active non-disclosure obligation from your institution).
You retain ownership of what you upload. By uploading, you grant JupyterDocs a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, convert (e.g., to PDF for the in-browser preview), and make your content available to other users through the Service, for as long as it stays on the platform.
Every upload is reviewed by an administrator before it becomes publicly visible or searchable. We may reject, edit the listing for, or remove any upload at our discretion — including in response to a report (Section 6). Accepted formats are PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and plain text, up to 55MB per file.
4. Downloading content
New accounts get one free download, no uploads required. Beyond that, you earn one additional download for every two resources you upload — admin approval of those uploads isn't required to earn the credit, only the act of contributing. Each download of another user's resource uses one of your download credits.
You can always download resources you uploaded yourself, at no cost to your download credits, regardless of moderation status. JupyterDocs doesn't currently charge for downloads or have a payment system.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload content you don't have the right to share, or that infringes someone's intellectual property.
- Upload malware, spam, or deceptively labeled content.
- Try to game the upload-to-download requirement (e.g., mass-uploading junk files).
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, attempt unauthorized access, or scrape it at scale.
- Use someone else's account without permission, or impersonate another person.
- Use JupyterDocs in a way that violates your own institution's academic integrity or honor code policies — that responsibility is yours, not ours.
6. Reporting and moderation
If you believe a resource is infringing, inappropriate, spam, mislabeled, or broken, you can report it directly from the resource's page. An administrator reviews every report and may resolve or dismiss it. For copyright-specific concerns, see our Copyright Policy.
We may remove content or restrict accounts based on reports, our own review, or repeated violations, without prior notice in serious cases.
7. Interactions
JupyterDocs lets you save resources for later and like/dislike them. Aggregate results (like percentages, download counts) are visible to everyone, but your individual votes and saved items are private to your account.
8. Suspension and termination
We may deactivate or restrict an account that violates these Terms or is used abusively. You may delete your own account at any time from your profile settings. Deleting your account removes your saved items, votes, and reports — but resources you've already uploaded remain on the platform, since JupyterDocs is a shared academic archive rather than a personal file store. They're simply no longer linked to you and are shown as uploaded by "Anonymous."
9. Disclaimers
The Service and all content on it are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or quality of user-uploaded material, and we're not responsible for how you use it — including for coursework or exams. That judgment, and any consequences, are yours.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, JupyterDocs and its operators aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including reliance on uploaded content or service interruptions.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date above. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Uganda, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
